An uplifting blend of spiritual and physical practices, Kundalini Yoga incorporates movement, dynamic breathing techniques, meditation, and the chanting of mantras, such as Sat Nam, meaning "truth is my identity." The goal is to build physical vitality and increase consciousness.
Kundalini Yoga combines breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, body locks, and postures to balance the glandular system, strengthen the electro-magnetic field, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity, and purifiy the blood. It brings balance to the body, mind, and soul.

The emphasis in Kundalini is on the breath guiding the physical movement, with the purpose of freeing energy in the lower body and allowing it to move upwards through all the chakras. All asana practices make use of controlling the breath, but in Kundalini the exploration of the effects of the breath/prana/energy on the postures is essential. Kundalini exercises are also called kriyas.
